What is a Limited Edition Print? đ§
Limited Edition Prints are original art pieces that an artist creates with the intention of offering a specific (limited) number of high-quality, museum-grade paper prints. These fine art prints are imagined through every medium â photography, digital art, or as a giclĂ©e* reproduction.Â
Our Limited Edition Prints are printed by a Fine Art Trade Guild approved printer who uses only museum-quality media (permanent, durable, acid-free**) and archival UV (pigment based) inks. Using 12-color GiclĂ©e printers, this process protects the vibrancy of the prints for over 100 years in ideal conditions. All of our prints have a specific media (paper) choice listed in their descriptions â because each print deserves its own individually chosen, detail enhancing paper.
After the Limited Edition piece is printed â it is only printed to the predetermined âlimitedâ number of prints per size â it is then hand-numbered, -titled, and -signed by the artist. Traditionally, Limited Edition Prints are signed and numbered in pencil with the edition number on the bottom left, the title in the middle and signature on the right. When you become the owner of a Limited Edition Print from JaKAaO, you will also receive the story, passion, or expression behind the fine art print, along with its signed Certificate of Authenticity.
Each JaKAaO fine art print is individually inspected, approved, prepared, and carefully packed for damage-free shipping directly to you. Our Limited Edition Prints are handpicked for color, quality, and limited variation. All of our prints are handled with special âWhite Glove Careâ to ensure only the very best (acid-free**) print is delivered to you.
Lastly, in case you were wondering â Once the Limited Edition Print has sold its allotted number of prints (25/25) in a specific size (itâs unusual to offer more than three different sizes) that print/artwork is retired. The artist can no longer offer Limited Editions (or Open Editions) of that specific piece. (Themâs the rules!⊠otherwise, it negates the edition limits, and holds no real value. Itâs just a print with writing on it.) Also, because of the uniqueness of each individual print, Limited Edition Prints cannot be returned.
So⊠go get yaâ one before theyâre gone!
(Please keep in mind, when you buy a Limited Edition Fine Art Print youâre not just getting a piece of art â youâre also supporting an artist so they can keep doing and sharing what they love.)
*Giclée: giclée (zhee-clay) n. 1. a type of digital fine-art print. 2. Most often associated with reproductions; a giclée is a multiple print or exact copy of an original work of art that was created by conventional means (painting, drawing, etc.) and then reproduced digitally, typically via inkjet printing.

**Acid-free: Acid-free papers (usually 100% cotton rag) are made to last. Without the presence of acid, in or on the papers, means that they will not become discolored or decompose. Acid is also transmitted by touching the paper with bare hands. To make absolutely sure that our prints donât have OUR prints (fingerprints, that isâŠ) on them and are not compromised, we only handle the paper/prints with clean, white cloth gloves.
